All that truck needs is Daisy Duke laying accross the bonnet with a Budweiser in her hand.

I hope you win Powerball soon mate as it's probably the only way I'll get to compete at the OBC again ;) I reckon the footage from me swimming back stroke across the billabongs might get a bit boring though :D
adam kenny wrote:Anyone who has a truck ready to race then you must do the OBC to give you a life experience that will stay with you for...well.... life.
Like others have said once you've done one OBC the bug bites you deep and there is nothing else like it. If you are thinking about doing it then make sure you do. It's certainly an experience you will never forget

But back to the serious stuff though has anyone heard whether the event has moved on to Poolamacca. I thought Hobzee might have made contact by now but nothing.

Cheers, The Fish ;)

i spoke to Huddy today after i sent him a sms pic of some shockers

They were heading through broken hill on their way to poolamacca.

He said his car was stuffed, he was sick of fixing it but they are still going and having a ball!!

Anthony Kilner & Andrew are out, something to do with gearbox.
Bills auto is stuffed , has no drive at all.

He said they were very impressed with the General Grabbers! He drove 3 - 4 kms on totally flat tyres. stopped and pumped them up at the end of the stage . both tyres still OK!!

When I first read that Bill was out due to a prob with the auto I wondered it was a result of letting Wally do the driving again like he did last year in the sand! But then I noticed in the scores that Warren is navvy this year...so I guess it can't be Wally's fault after all ! :D ;)

Gutted for Bill though.

Like others have said, the OBC gets under your skin. One of those things in life that you can't just tick off the list and say 'Done that!' - there is something about it that makes you want to go back! Hope it is still running when Dave and I get the time and money together to get over there again.

Got a phone call from I think(?) Car 19 Bruce Borchardt & Kean Peard NSW today at work, they were trying to ring Hobzee and it diverted to the office.

Apparently they were in Broken Hill and trying to get onto Paul Van der Horst to let him know that they were pulling out and not going to rejoin the field. That's what I could make out from the average phone reception anyway.

Haven't had any updates for a while

Go Lawrie and Hobzee

Sure will Celia!

Same as what everyone else has said about competing at OBC, if you ever get the opportunity to compete go for it, best experience ever!!

It bites you can you just want to go back again.

I'm itching to get back behind the wheel and race again, just need to wait a little bit longer, after our baby is born in August.

has anyone got a handle on potential points to be won on the last day (assuming 2 staghes today?)...and even better what the last stage looks like in terms of latest positions? it is fair to say the mighty (and sunny) state of VIC is well represented... (yes i am jumping on the bandwagon, why wouldn't i!)

Hope see some results ASAP.

thanks.

P.S. Fish, no Powerball win last night D'oh.

Found this on ABC online news.........mmmm

Outback 4x4 Challenge nears finish line
Posted 6 hours 27 minutes ago

Map: Broken Hill 2880
The Outback 4x4 Challenge is nearing completion, with car 22 leading the field.

Car 22 is first in the field but competition manager, Paul Vanderhorst, says the leaders can be caught in the last leg.

He says the Broken Hill team is doing well, despite mechanical problems.

Mr Vanderhorst says the wet conditions have caused a range of problems, forcing three cars to pull out.

"We've got engines that are not working, we've got gearboxes that are not working, some people - their cars are terminal - so they've retired from the event," he said.

"But all in all they're really keen to keep their cars mobile and keep it going for the rest of the challenge."

80 points is a big margin to make up on the last day, all Greg needs to do is drive smart and stay out of trouble and the rock will be his tonight. I cant see him loosing it unless he does something silly.

Yeah will be good to see Greg hang on as he deserves it  Hopefully Lawrie & Hobzee are still at the pointy end challenging for a podium finish as Lawrie has always been close

Here's a couple of pics at the morning mud stage taken by Mrs. Fish. This may help to keep the tragics amused while we wait for some more news :D

Drag race OBC style :D Dave Cameron overtaking one of the Venezeulan teams during the stage

Looks like the usual traffic jam in the Viewmont mud with winch ropes everywhere :? Really helps to be one of the first to start these stages ;)

Well as it comes to an end and we all wait on the result. All wishing we were there

I think they are all winners. From the Marshals to the competitors, landowners and event management team, all the mates in sheds helping to prep for the event and the families that support us all. Last but not least all the people in the Hill who open the boarders every May!

Well done to all and hope you all have a safe trip home

Will be hard for Coops to make third unless current third and fourth stuffed up badly after SS12.

Greg Scanlon and Lian Nunns 1016
Lawrie Sterbeck and Steve Hobbs 936
Dave Cameron and Daniel Dewit 931
Brett Chynowyth and Rob Bartch 868
Neil Cooper and Chris Humner 837

That puts them some 94 points behind third. Go Dave

I'm with you MAL roll on Cliffhanger. Unfortuately can't be there this year but have already told Paul put me down for OBC.
