Bell housing patterns? Crazy thoughts.
Bell housing patterns? Crazy thoughts.
Heyyas.
I was wondering, does a gearbox from a TB/TD 42 fit behind an RB30? Are the bell housing patterns the same.
If so, is there an adaptor to fit a Nissan VH41/45 engine to the Patrol gearbox?

From 2 years ago,
the adaptor plate bolts between the block & bellhousing, you also need to machine part of the bellhousing for the startermotor to clear (we use the VH45 starter)
the fly wheel we hade made using the ring gear from the autoflex plate from the VH45 with custom clutch
The cost for front cuts is about $3000.00 thats engine, auto & wiring etc.....
We can supply the 10mm adaptor plate for $400.00 for 1off or $350.00each for an order of 10
the conversion was already done on our GQ when we bought it
we did the same conversion on our GU using the VH45 & GQ 5speed manual gearbox,
all the engine mounts & adaptor plates were 1off custom jobs for the conversion, In the GU we moved the engine back to keep the weight central & the gearbox & crossmember are in the original position.
The GQ the gearbox has been moved forward about 4inches
Cheers

they don't do them anymore but it wouldn't have helped anyway, since i blow up 2 or 3 boxes a year I'm working on something right now to put behind the RB30 but it will be auto....hopefully ill know something soon.

yep for trimatic and C4 neither of which marks4x4 does a transfer adapter for, but I've found a th350/400 to rb30 adapter and marks does an TH to patrol transfer adapter but its gonna be 1500-1600 for the 2 adapters, I'm just waiting to see if i can get trade....

Nutter the rodshop does adapters for turbo 700s that go behind v6s for $443 in stead of $773. Building these to handle power is just as easy as any other auto. I've known blokes using them behind their supercharged burnout cars with no issues.
This is an idea that I was thinking of using behind my twin turboed rb30 depending on how my gearbox stands up to the abuse its going to cop.

i just checked CRS again and they now do the TH350/400 which is what I want as they dont have the crap rev drop from 1st to 2nd like the 4 speed holdens do, marks does the transfer so it finally looks possible and easyisshhh, I couldn't live with a 4 speed they have worst 1st to 2nd ratio and with 35's 4th gear is too tall anyway...but your right the box is suitable for those who dont care bout the shift quality....now just 4k to make it all happen.
