1. EVENT FORMATE
The ASCC format is standard for all events in the 2004 series.
Saturday
9.00am Scrutineering - Sign in.
11.30am Drivers briefing.
12 midday Start of competition, "production & modified".
Complete 3 sections.
5.30pm Stop for dinner.
7.00pm Start of underlights section.
10.30pm Finish underlights section.
Sunday
9.00am Start of Vertical Assault.
12.30 - 1.00pm Presentation
All start times are to the minute. Drivers briefing starts at 11.30am on the dot, those who do not attend will have a penalty of 30 points added to the finish count.
3 tracks are part of the Saturday afternoon comp and must be completed. Those teams that have not completed all tracks must inform the officials. In this case teams will be run through unfinished tracks at 8.00am Sunday morning.
Starting order for Sunday Vertical Assault will be determined on Saturday night.
Starting orders for all sections will recorded on the score board by the officials.
2. PRODUCTION CLASS ENTRY RULES.
The entry rules for this class is based around road legal vehicles, the vehicles entered should meet all requirements in these rules.
This class allows for cost effective competition set ups and a base point for enrty to the ASCC.
1. SUSPENSION.
a. All vehicles entering this class should retain relatively standard suspension.
b. Shock absorber mounting points may not be changed.
c. Spring lifts of 50mm are permitted with 50mm body lift. . Up to 100mm-spring lift without a 50mm body lift.
d. Caster correction is permitted.
e. Heavy-duty panard rods and suspension components are permitted.
2. DRIVELINE.
a. Production drivelines are permitted. (Factory fitted diff locks are not permitted).
b. Over shimmed LSD is not permitted. Diff locks are not approved.
c. Vehicles that have diff locks fitted and fill all other requirements for this class may enter after disabling any diff locks fitted.
3. TYRES.
a. Maximum tyre size, 33" tall
b. All tyres must carry Australian Starndards approval.
4. ENGINES.
a. Engine replacement is approved only when complying with Qld Transport Standards.
5. CHASSIS
a. Wheel base and track shall remain unaltered
Vehicles with leaf to coil spring conversions may be admitted to competition if complying with suspension height restrictions. Prior approval must be obtained.
3. MODIFIED CLASS ENTRY RULES.
The entry levels for this class are based around vehicles that have sound engineering standards.
1. SUSPENSION.
a. All vehicles entering this class shall have up to engineered approved suspension modifications.
b. Hydraulic & buggy leaf suspension are not permitted.
c. Air suspension shall only be approved on vehicles that have air suspension fitted as a factory option.
d. Competitors who are unsure should seek approval from event management.
2. DRIVELINE.
a. Diff locks and traction aids are permitted.
b. Drop axles are not approved.
c. Diff and gearbox ratios may be altered.
d. Lock out brakes are not approved.
3. TYRES.
a. Maximum tyre size is 36.5" as measured loose with 20 psi.
b. All tyres must carry Australian Standards approval.
4. ENGINES.
a. Engine replacement is approved only when complying with Qld Transport standards.
5. CHASSIS
a. Chassis modifications must be engineered and approved.
b. Wheelbase should remain substantially unaltered.
Roll over protection is mandatory for this class entry level, all competitors should obtain directions from event management for requirements.
4. VEHICLE & PERSONEL SAFETY.
This section deals with special safety requirements for all competition vehicles.
1. ELECTRICAL SAFETY.
a. All batteries must be securely clamped in position.
b. Positive terminals must be covered with nonconductive material.
c. Battery isolation switch/s must be fitted in such a manner as to allow external operation.
d. Battery position markers must be fitted in a position closest to the battery. 100mm blue triangle.
2. FIRE CONTROL.
a. A dry chemical fire extinguisher must be fitted incab in a position within reach of the driver and navigator.
3. IN CAB CONDITIONS.
a. Accessories and equipment carried inside the cabin area must be securely fitted. No loose items are permitted in the cab.
4. SEAT BELTS.
a. All seat restraints must be a minimum of approved lap sash belt type.
b. Mounting points for all seat belts must be in good condition.
5. SEATING REQUIREMENTS.
a. Replacement seating is permitted with engineer approval.
b. All seats must be in sound condition including mounting points.
6. ROLLOVER PROTECTION.
a. All Soft top and FRP vehicles must have a minimum of a 4-point roll bar over the driver/ navigator.
b. It is recommended that all vehicles have a roll bar fitted.
c. All Ute cab vehicles must have 1 chassis mounted roll bar fitted.
7. WINDOW MESH.
a. All vehicles must have a securely fitted window mesh for all front side windows.
8. PERSONEL SAFETY.
a. All competitors are required to wear fully covered footwear.
b. All competitors are required to wear a minimum of sleeved shirt and shorts.
c. All navigators will be issued with 1 safety yellow vest. All navigators are required to wear the vest at all times in competition. Vehicles must remain stationary until the navigator is in clear view
9. HELMETS.
a. All drivers of competition vehicles are required to use Australian Standards approved helmets.
10. RECOVERY POINTS AND EQUIPMENT.
a. Secure recovery points must be fitted front & rear of all competing vehicles. (Standard bull bar recovery loops are not considered safe for this event).
b. All teams are required to carry a rated snatch strap and 2 rated shackles.
c. Winches, winch recovery straps and snatch blocks are not required. These items will be supplied by ASCC for recovery when needed. (this is not a winching event)
d. All navigators are required to wear recovery gloves at all time in competition.

5. SCRUTINEEERING & STARTING ORDER.
SIGN IN.
1. Sign in will be on site from 8.30am to 11.00am Saturday.
2. Vehicle numbers will be issued at sign in. The score board will have team vehicle numbers displayed. All vehicle numbers will be recorded on the left top of the windscreen. .
SCRUTINEERING.
The following items will be checked at time of scrutineering.
1. Drivers licences.
2. General condition of vehicle.
3. Recovery equipment.
4. Recovery points.
5. Seat mounts.
6. Seat belts.
7. Handbrakes.
8. External lighting.
9. Registration label.
10. Engineering mod plates.
11. Inside cab for loose items.
12. Tyre sizes.
13. Fire extinguisher.
14. Window netting.

STARTING ORDER.
Starting orders will be by way of ballot draw. (Tickets in the hat)
Starting orders will be recorded on the score board located at the scrutineering area.
6. EMERGANCY PROCEDURES AND RADIO CHANNELS.
UHF radio is the approved frequency for the ASCC.

A commentary sheet is available at the time of signin, please complete and give information on your sponsors for use in commentary.
This sheet will be available at all events should you need to update the information.

9. ASCC POLICY.
The ASCC provides for a fair competition based on a level playing field, no single team should have advantage by way of over engineering or unfair vehicle modifications. Vehicles may be modified up to the guidelines set out in the rules.
Prior to the event, management generally drives the tracks provided in the official vehicle. Some obstacles that are undrivable by normal methods will be included in the competition tracks, at these points teams may use recovery procedures set out in competition rules at the cost of penalties.
The rules for this event are designed around safe driving practice; all competitors must follow safety procedures.
Competition at this level requires a professional approach and good sport ethic. Competitors are required by behave in a sportsman like manner. Abuse of officials, spectators or other competitors will not be tolerated.
RULES.
LOSS OF FORWARD MOVEMENT.
A penalty of 5 points applies to any vehicle that looses forward movement other than by competition rules.
TOUCH BUNTING OR TRACK MARKERS.
A penalty of 5 points applies to any vehicle that touches any marker, bunting or passes under the line of bunting.
STOP SIGNS.
A penalty of 10 points applies to any vehicle that fails to stop for a minimum of 2 seconds at a placed stop sign.
ROLLBACK OR BUMP STEERING.
A penalty of 5 points applies to any vehicle that rolls back or bumps off an obstacle to better position the vehicle.
REVERSING.
A penalty of 5 points will apply to any vehicle that reverses.
EXCESSIVE WHEEL SPIN.
A penalty of 20 points will apply to any vehicle that spins wheels enough to change the character of the track.
SEAT BELTS.
A penalty of 50 points applies to any team member who fails wear a seat belt.
WINDOW MESH.
A penalty of 50 points will apply to any vehicle that has an unsecured window mesh.
RECOVERY ITEMS.
ROCK STACKING.
A penalty of 5 points applies to every 30-second block of rock stacking. The navigator must call rock stacking for the vehicle to stop without loss of forward movement penalty. Rock stacking material will include "ROCK", "WOOD" OR EARTH.
HIGHLIFT JACKS.
A penalty of 10 points applies to the use of any jack.
TOWING AND WINCHING.
A penalty of 30 points applies to any vehicle that is towed or winched within a track. Towing and winching is only at the senior track official's direction.
DID NOT FINISH.
Any vehicle that does not pass the deemed halfway point on any track will be DNF.
Any vehicle can DNF 1 only track per event. The vehicle must have passed the deemed halfway point; in this case points awarded will be that of the highest recorded score for the track.
CONDUCT.
Any competitor who abuses an official, spectator or other competitor will be dismissed from competition.
ALCOHOL & DRUGS
Alcohol or using illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
COMPETITOR ACCESS TO TRACKS.
Competition tracks may be viewed by all competitors from the spectator barrier only, competitors are not permitted to walk the tracks prior to competition.
At the under light section, drivers briefing will include walking the track prior to this section being run.
HELMETS.
Drivers not wearing a helmet while competing will incur a penalty of 50 points.
SAFETY BREACH
Any driver or navigator can warned by an official for a breach of safety. The team can be removed from competition for continuing the breach of safety after the warning.
11. MISC.
SPONSORS.
The ASCC operates under contract to one or more advertising sponsors, all competition teams are asked to respect the sponsors. At times part of entry to the event may require the sponsors signage to be placed upon the team vehicle. (At the cost of the sponsor).
WARNING.
The Australian 4wd Short Course championship is a MOTOR SPORT event. The competitors enter at no risk to the ASCC, officials or staff. ASCC will not be liable for any damage or injury while competing in the Australian 4wd Short Course Championship.
The ASCC reserves the right to omit any vehicle or team from competition for whatever reason.
