Farked hilux Injector pump?? (2.8 diesel)

Post by HTH »

recently put brand new injectors in my 3L hilux because it was spluttering horrbile after 3200rpm and was running like a dog.

This has not changed anything and it is still running like crap.

Does this mean my injector pump is the problem and i need a new one or is there anything else i can check?

i guess i better add it has a brand new 3L in it (but with old fuel system).

I have looked around and a new (rebuilt) injector pump is $700 (swapping my old one). so before forking out the dosh i thought i better ask you guys if it could be anything else?

Also if anyone has a good working injector pump they are willing to sell let me no.

Cheers, HTH

who ever is offering the 700 swap can test your pump for pressure etc.

could also perhaps be an air leak in fuel line or primer cap, blocker fuel filter or something else like that as well.

Start with changing the fuel filter and draining the seperator.

Actually start with having good fuel in the tank!

Who put the injectors in??
Did they put all new washers in? Using old washers can give dramas too.

that pump that is on your filter could be letting air into the system maybe even only on high fuel draw (higher rpm) something to think about seen that alot , simple things first always with minimal cash spent , good quality fuel , good clean filter... also the line from your filter to your pump , replace it with a piece of clear hose temporarily. rev your car from the pump and watch the hose if there is air getting into your fuel you will see it strait away entering the pump.

What torque? Tighten it till it strips and then back it off half a turn.
