Suzi Sierra 1.6L
Suzi Sierra 1.6L
Hey just was after some one or some peoples opinion, i have a 1.6L engine in my sierra, in appears to be rusting creating a water leak! Apparently it is a suzuki engine block problem. Devestating as its only about 80000kms since installation.
I am chasing another 1.6L vitara or baleno engine in WA but the costs for these are about $2000 rebuilt but unistalled. Seems like a lot but i have no idea so was just wondering if im getting ripped or just need to bite the bullet and get it done!
Would appreciate advice or comments!

$1600 for second hand G16B out of a 96 vitara from a cairns wreckers that had 160 000 on the clock. $2500 for a full rebuild from a local JAP motors mob. Install myself. a full set of sockets up to about 17mm, breaker bar and ring spanners should get you through the factory stuff. Im thinking just cruzins adaptor kit from memory used a 23mm (way going out on a limb here) nyloc nut as the biggest socket needed?? up to 25mm should see you through anyways. The other ussualls, phillips and flat screwies, plyers, 2 big mates some strong pipe and rope should have the engine out.
You could prob get some great help by describing exactly where the leak is, if its leaking from an alloy part or steel. picture would be good

ok cool, i'll think about the tig option, i had that suggested to me by the mechanic but he was unsure if it would work as it is a significant leak and growing worse, i cant take a photo of it as its behind the engine, the best way to describe from my limited knowledge is that the alloy block is rusting out, causing a water leak!
would be unwise to just go the rebuild engine that way i just wont have to worry about it for years to come?
