Navara brakes

Post by Struth »

I am getting a loan of a navara, an old one prior to the D22. I think it's an 89 model.

It has a 2.4/2.2 diesal and apparently there is a pump of some kind attached to the alternator that works with the brakes.

This pump is stuffed.

Can anyone tell me how hard this is to fix, I need to pay rego on the Navara before I can borrow it.

Cheers

It's a vacuum pump, no vacuum in the manifold of a diesel as there is no butterfly.

Just push the brake pedal harder :D

They usually come with the alternator as a job lot.

I think if you wanted one then genuine would be the only way, or second hand.

Struth, these things rearely fail. Are you sure it doesnt have a leaky hose?

They also have a check valve in the system to hold vacuum in the booster overnight, it might be blocked.

Run it with the hose off & if it sucks on your finger tim then it will be ok.

May also be a diaphragm in the booster shot.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

Cheers mate, the guy who is lending me the car already has the alternator and pump apart after he was quoted $700 to repair it.

Cheers.
