37" or bigger road tyres
I'm going to be up for some new road tyres before winter and am looking for some advice from someone doing some reasonable miles on big tyres.
I've got a GU ute with enough clearance to run up to 42's but "only" have 4.625's in so am thinking that 37" is probably as big as I'd want to go on road. I do about 40,000 kms a year, 3 months of which is on snowy icy roads so wear and traction are issues. I'm happy to run either 15" or 16" rims (have some of both lying around) but don't really want to go to a 16.5" or 17" because I live in the middle of nowhere and tyres are hard enough to get as it is.
Any suggestions? I've looked at 37 x 13 MTRs and XTerrains so far.

I'm not very good looking, so I guess I better be useful . . .
Second thought that I'd also appreciate commment on. I've been told that construction and compounds often differ in tyres that are 35" and below from those that are 35" plus (examples were MTRs and XTerrains). Any truth to this or was it just "sales speak"?

With the taller of the 2 spring lifts that I've got in, I normally run 38.5 Boggers but since moving from Vic into NSW, have tried 37" MTR's, 38 and 42" Swampers. The 42's would work with slightly longer bumstops than I currently have so you can immage how small 35's look.
With the 4" lifts coils in, I drop back to a pretty bald set of 35" Claws.
Do I "need" 37's? . . . No. Do I want 37's . . . Yes

You wont be dissapointed if ya go for the 37's MTR's. I have them on 10 inch rims and are just the thing for any thing from rock to mud and they arnt to shabby in snow either
.On road they are balanced and they dont shake or wander. If ya want them and can afford them, buy them

NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPOINTMENTS
the only thing I'll say about this is that with that many ks each year and the type of roads I'd imagine you'd be driving (windy mountain stuff) the life of the tyres won't be much and I'd imagine they'd get a bit squirmy on the windy roads with all that sidewall moving around. having said that cool go with some Krawlers if you want real bling

Yeah well i thought the facts were that anything in 15" form that exceeds 12.5 " in width had to be run on no less than 8.5" rim .......which in NSW (not sure of others ) is illegal to run ?????????????Although i know of some off the board that could legally run 35" claws cause they had a certificate from the manufacturer sayin so (or somethin like that)
PLease explain ZUK 16v cause i would luurv to strreet my 37"s with no worry from the police /rta

Had a look at the Dick Cepak 37" Radial FC IIs at the Sydney 4x4 show - anyone know anything about these?
Apart from the price which at RRP of $680 was a bit hard to swallow, I thought that they might wear a little better given that I do around 40,000 kms a year.
