Engine mod QLD - WA??

Post by TheBigBoy »

Will a gu with a gen 3 mod'd in queensland be transferable to WA? I know each state has their own rules etc. But it should pass an engineers certificate with flying colours being that queensland is the hardest state for these mods to be passed... Any thought?

QLD is by no means the hardest state to have that sort of thing passed

but it should be possible to have it engineered and rego'd in WA yes

Call engineer in WA, and also speak with the roads people there first...

Theres been several people buy interstate 4wds off this board, and take to another state to only have a worthless hunk of steel.

you'd want to get in touch with the Technical Department at the DPI in Welshpool before anyone else. These are the guys that decide whether or not a car needs to be engineered, and basically, whether or not you can drive it.

Is the car engineered in QLD, or just mod plated? I have heard of people being able to registed QLD mod plated cars in WA without an engineers cert, in fact my Skyline is such a car (though this was done many years before i got it). However, this is by no means always the case.

If the car is engineered already, according to the DPI website, and the Paperwork i recieved when building my last car, this engineers cert will count in WA as well, so that wouldn't (shouldn't..) be an issue.

but like i say, give the DPI Tech Section a call, they'll be the best place to start. Phone number is 13 11 56.

Its mod plated. I rang the 4x4 shop who did the conversion for me. And they said that it wasnt engineered just mod plated without any drama's. Late model engine in a late model patrol shouldnt be any hassles. Its all done smicko. But at the end of the day its not really upto me... Just thought id ask.
