TB42 and TD42 bolt pattern

Post by Screwy »

guys,

just a quick one...

Does the TB42 and the TD42 have the same bolt pattern to the gearbox?

i.e. could i bought an auto from a TB42 into a TD42 or are they different and require modification?

screwy

same bolt pattern man,
diesel belhousing has an extra hole for the 3 bolt starter which is easily added to the petrol belhousing.

have just finished putting an auto behind my td4.2, as said had to redrill all three holes for the diesel starter as it is a bigger diameter. no problem as the bell housing is cast with extra meat in the three spots that require drilling and tapping

What's involved in the conversion? Is it pretty much bolt up? I've got an '89 Mav should I look at a similar age auto for organ donation or a later model?
