Help needed Turbo diesel

Post by paulm958 »

Hi, im currently looking at a 95 Landcruiser tray. and was told the motor was replaced not long after purhcace, the origanal motor that failed had a Safari turbo fitted, a replacement motor was sourced at the time and the new owner was told it was a 150k landcruiser 80s factory turbo motor, it was sent up at the time without the turbo as the safari turbo was to be used on the replacement motor,
What im wanting to know is how can you tell between a std 4.2 and a factory turbo 4.2,
any help would be appreciated as im looking at buying in the next few days,

Gday, Factory turbo is direct injection and std 4.2 is indirect. I guess the easiest way is to look at the injection line nuts. Turbo nuts are 17mm and non turbo are 14mm. Hope this helps.
