Replacing a 1hz with a 2h?
Everyone goes the other way, but I happen to have a clapped-out 1hz engine in a decent Troopy camper, and what seems like a good 2h engine in a rustbucket.
I know that it may be of dubious legality to put an older engine in a new car, but that aside, it is feasible?
Bear in mind I have the complete running gear and body for the 2h Troopy - good 5-speed gearbox, all the ancillaries, engine and gearbox mounts etc.
I'm inclined to think it should be a fairly astraighforward swap and will save me $3500 for a reconditioned 1hz plus installation costs. (I wouldn't install the reco engine myself, but am willing to risk my own basic mechanical skills in doing the secondhand engine swap...)

The 2H was a far better motor than the 1HZ anyway. appart from a bit of power loss you won't be going backwards

Irish mate id go with it your better off with the 2h and with the coin ya save fit an after market turbo and ya have the best of both worlds a fairly economical and well powered troopy ya can camp in sounds like a great idea

1hz is more power, smoother and mostly lasts much longer than a 2h.

I own a Hj60 btw and have rebuilt a 2H. If i had my time again i would have definantly found a 2nd hand 1HZ to put in.

The only way to step up from a 2h IMO is to put a 1 in front and a T behind it go the 12HT
Old school oilers there super reliable as long as there serviced proper ...
