Hi all I have a 95 model 2.8 TDi 5 speed manual pajero in the workshop with no gears what so ever.
Clutch is fine. Gearbox seems fine you can here it select each gear but there is no drive in any gear
With Wheels jacked up in 4x4 mod shows the transfer case is working but everything still free wheels when the gearbox is in gear.
I suspect the link between the transfer case and gearbox is stripped but not having much to do with Pajero's I’m not sure how they are linked without pulling it down first.
Personally I hate these vehicles LOL but this is a love job for a mate so I have committed myself to repair it for him.
Has anyone had a similar issue with one of these and what was the cause and the fix??
Any help would be great full as I would hate to strip it down and find some easy to access sensor or something stupid like that being the cause.
Cheers Andy

95 pajero 2.8 tdi has no gears

Mine did something like that when I had the clutch replaced. The workshop moved the 4x4 selector to all wheel drive (4wd high centre diff unlocked) and as I have manual free wheeling hubs all the drive nwent to the front diff and with the hubs in free it didn't move. Same thing can happen without free wheeling hubs if you have a broken front CV or if there is something wrong with the auto free wheeling assy.

no the clutch is fine, the gearbox is doing everything it should and the transfer case is doing what it should in 4 high and low etc but there is no drive to the transfer case so suspect the link between them is sheared on the gearbox output shaft or on transfer input shaft.glenn_c wrote:Mine did something like that when I had the clutch replaced.
