75 ute better gearbox?
I have a 75 series ute with a 350 chev in it and my gearbox is stuffed so im chasing a new one, how do stock gboxes hold up? especially with the 8? what else fits right in that might be better?
Are you guys dreaming!!
please tell me where this info came from (that a 55 is stronger than a 150)
the h15x was developed as a bigger stronger box for the bigger heavier 80 series
they rarely give trouble and are very strong
thats why they are fitted to all the v8 petrol and turbo diesel cruisers from the 80 series til now in the new v8 utes
only the na 1hz (95 kw ) had the h55 in the 70 series the petrol's and TD's all had the bigger stronger H15x
we could never sell enough h55s had to end up keeping reco ones on the shelf they always wear out or blow up they are an evolution of the old 4speed box
we always had plenty of h15x boxes as not many wanted them (cause they dont fail)
there are a crap load of ls1's getting around infront of h151's in bigger heavier 80 series's and virtually no failures

I have followed many a post on which is the better box. Most if not all recon the 55 is better, but thats something for the "experts" to decide not me. If you want to fit a 150/1 you will have a hard time doing it from what I hear.. My 55 gearbox is 13 yrs old and still works perfect. never opened and done 300k. cant be that bad then?
