g13b to g16a (do i need an electric fuel pump)

Post by zookeenie »

have just finished the 1300 to 1600 conversion (g13b to g16a) in a 91 sierra, have only driven a few times, and not very far,but i am finging that sometimes after hard acceleration the engine starves a little when you back off..is this just teething issues,or have others experienced similar issues after this conversion..have read elsewhere that i may need to install an electric pump!,but i dont enderstand as to why,as the mech fuel pump on the engine is also from a g16a vitara motor!!did the vitara come out with an electric pump?? i know the efi ones have one,but what about the carby motor?

Electric pumps are only needed with the efi engines. I had the 16a carby and never had any problems with stock fuel pump
