i got a steel rollbar for a bargain off a mate and want to mount it to my alloy tray, it fits and has flat plate on the bottom to mount it.
my question is, apart from it ripping my tray if it cops a hit from a tree or something, what else should i thinking about?? what bolts sholud i use, i was thinking hi tensile with some big flat washers.
i know i should be making a steel tray and fitting it to that, but, i dont have that luxury yet.
the bar has a single hoop and 1 stay on each side.

steel rollbar on alloy tray

Can you make some basic mounts so that it looks like it's mounted to the tray, but it's really mounted to the chassis by way of your brackets underneath the tray?
If so then use strong bolts etc. But if you're only mounting it to the ally tray then it's a bit pointless worrying about strength too much.
