60 sway bar, is it needed?????

Hey ppls.

I just bought a 62 cruiser a week ago and it has a front sway bar.
Is it really needed on a truck with leaf springs??

It has a 2h so its slow anyway and doesnt handle so has anyone removed the front sway bar?? and how did it drive arterwards???

If your not powering along around corners on a race track you dont need the sway bar. Look at all the leaf sprung 4x4s around, no swaybars.. It will give you heaps better flex too.

Ive had a few 60s now and the first thing i do is remove the sway bars.
if your running adjustable shocks they are fine if you dont drive it like i drive my v8 calais.

I had an 85 hj60 with 2" springs, 3" body lift and extended shackles running 35" bias ply claws, i put in a set of brand new pro-comp es9000 shocks and it handled suprisingly good.

I just had to adjust my driving style after getting out the commy.

I always thought sway bars were a good idea - so much so that I put a thicker front bar on my 60 and was in the process of installing a rear bar. I ripped the sway bar from the drivers side mount when doing a rough track one day. Left it off and didn't notice the difference so it has never been back on. That said I have Bilstein shocks that I believe transform the handling making sway bars unecessary. I think the key is to have good shocks.

I have a falcon thats lowered a bit and has 17's on it so if I want to go around corners I just drive that .

The cruiser has 3" efs springs and rancho shocks and its all less then 2 yrs old so Ill ditch the sway bar and see how she goes.
