why won't my head lights, PS indicators and spotties work?

Post by 31zook »

OK so I'm trying everything i can think of, checked the fuses did some earth checks, did a relay check yep it all works... with the relay i checked to see if it clicked and i don't know if that's the sure fire way to do it but it clicked so i gave it the OK. Cut out and replaced all the rubbish wiring the previous owner did, still nothing...
I checked which way the earthing goes on the spotties and the bull bar (alloy) is negatively charged... i thought that sierras were backwards in that the head light are always on but it flicks the earth on and off...

I've got a funky hidden kill switch not sure how it stop it from working but when engaged the motor will turn over but i think it goes to the carby??? its a real different carby to my last and may not be stock???

I think that's the fuel cut off solenoid? Most kill switches go to the coil so no power can get through to fire the spark. Donno about the lights etc not much of a sparky me self!

its a fuel idle cut off solenoid. standard equipement. and yes, sierras are negative switching.

i ran from battery thru inline fuse, then to 30 on relay
than 86 or whatever is earth i then ran to that same 30 prong on the relay
87 out to lights as you know
then 85 went from hi beam in to switch at cab back out to 85 at relay

pretty sure thats how i done it,that way it eliminates it getting power to the lights thru the relay all the time. Then when you go to hi beam it sends earth signal to relay at 85 and with the power at 86 relay switches??????? im probably wrong haha there a few ways negative switching can be done
