GQ rear wheel bearing questions

Post by rumpig89 »

Gday

i have looked in search but cant find much.

I have a 1988 TD42 Ford Maverick LWB wagon with disc brakes. I have removed the rear axles and have now decided to do the wheel bearings (they seem fine but might as well do it).

I went chasing bearings for it today and everyone is telling me different things...

I was under the impression that it was a semi-floating axle, with disc brakes... but have been told by numerous places that it is a full floating axe...??

I eventually brought a set (140bucks per corner) and it has one mighty looking wide bearing in it, and oil seal and a grease seal. According to the manual i have it looks like it should be two taper roller bearing opposing each other but now i can be sure... i can see however that this large bearing could be a combination of the two opposed bearings built into one...???

I would have a had a look but i left the axles at work (where the press is) and didnt get any number off them.

Hopefully some of this makes sense. Any tips wouldnt go astray either!

Cheers
