spare wheel on door

Post by jimny_99 »

heya,
my back door on the jimny wobbles and shakes like crazy over bumps, esspecially with the added weight of the bigger tyres. i have attempted to adjust the hinges, but think i just made it worse.

what can i do to stop the door moving so much wen it is closed??????
i fear its gonna just rip off :?

Best thing to do is buy/build a rear bar with spare wheel carrier, get all that weight off what sounds like an already damaged door.

make a rear wheel carrier, if you can weld it should only take you the w/e.

Or get a skinny spare tyre that is the same height as your other tyres. will be heaps lighter then a big bulky tyre. Just depends if you want to carry a full size spare.

Yeah, I have the same trouble on my Holden Drover. I recently dismantled a Sierra and kept the back door and heaps of other spare parts. I've also kept the front and rear bumper bars to base home made front and rear bars on (rear bar with wheel carrier to take the pressure off the door). It appears as though the standard bumper bars are only made from something like 0.5mm steel or something, and if I try hard enough, I can actually bend it with my own hands! Imagine what a Kangaroo could do at 60kmh?? Could anybody possibly tell me which number 4WD Action DVD Glenno does a home made rear bar on Project Rangie??? Somewhere between episode 110 AND 120?

PS- I'm sorry for hijacking your thread, but I have exactly that problem with my rear door...

There is a adjustable black rubber stopper on the inside of the door.
Wind it out and it should stop it.
Well mine did anyway
