mmmm yeah mine isnt quite that wide .... 40"s are big enough ...I dont want to over compensate
I have seen pics of either that one all I thought it was a later model GV that was on rockwells driving some insanely huuge vert steps .... will try and find em
wouldnt need it but could you imagine sitting in that cab? it would like being jack from the box, you would be thrown around like there is no tomorrow.

Does look a bit like a cork in the ocean ( this is on 46's ), but i dont think it was built for comfort
my definition excellent steering lock is 45 degree plus
rocks only steer to about 37 degrees with the steering stops cut off
my toyota diff would turn that sharp
I'm sorry...didn't realise the whole world was going by your definitions.
So 'about 37 degrees'? Can't be stretched to 40 degrees, at all?
rocks have terrible steering lock. Really, they do. I've been for a run in the RE4X4 buggies that run dobbin built H260 centres with Rock outers and they really really need the rear steer- the single axle lock sucks considering the $$ in the axles. I'd be surprised if they match the standard closed knuckle japanese diff like a sierra or hilux.
No rockwell ever had pinion brakes standard. They have massively heavy wheel mounted drum brakes. The pinion flange that the brake is fitted to is the drive through for the rearmost axle.
Sorry for the highjack, just thought Id clear some stuff up.

so would you say solid axle hiluxs have excellent steering lock?
if you look on pirate most are only getting around 37 (it differs from housing to housing) with the stops cut off so you can strech the 37 to wat ever you want

So at whatever you want (say 40 degree's) how long do the "flexable" bits of the diff last. I dont know rockwells that well apart from what I have read in mags.
Some have a sort of CV joint (rezepa ?) I imagine these would not be good candidates for increase in steering lock.
