1985 Dual Cab 2.4 Diesel - To rebuilt or engine transplant

Post by GrantusMaximus »

Hey Guys first off this site is awesome. been cruising the forums and have got heaps of info all ready..

I just got my hands on a 1985 DualCab Lux 2.4 Diesel really cheap.. The has seized in the bottom end of the motor and it came with a 2nd motor 2.4 to drop in but have found one of the pistons are seized in that too. the guy also chucked in 2 petrol 3Y motors which he said where running when in got them and he was thanna put the petrol into the lux but bought a patrol insted.. so i got the lux the 3 motors and a few extras for under a grand. so i thought i did good lol..

So my situation now is do i get the orignal motor rebuilt and/or add turbo kit or try and put 1 motor together out of 2. or put the petrol 3Y in..

I was considering 1KZ TE after reading other forums here.. but i dont want to spend heaps but i dont want to do it to cheaply that its thana be unreliable.. cause it will be my daily and used for weekend 4x4ing mild to medium mub runs hills ect.. abd going to fraser aswell..
(I have another car but thats a turbo rice racer lol )

cheers in advance guys

ABC auto gear in brissy will supply you with a good 3L for around $2400
or the 2LT for around the same money (i think they still have them for about that money might just have to ring them and ask)
