ARB air lockers
With the arb air locker i have heard about oil from the diff leaking back up the lines and into the compress. Has anyone had any drama with this? And anything i should be made aware of with these lockers pros and cons? Anything to do with fitting through to the procedure to engaging them and disengaging them. Any problems with them i want to know what they are and how you have overcome that problem!

and who have you heard this from? A few of the many many thousands that have been installed without any dramas.
I've heard that some Landcruisers are lemons, all sort sof problems with build quality and cracked chassis. I've heard some LCD TVs get these really bad picture quality etc etc

Ransom note = demand + collage
think about the length of the air line from the diff to the compressor - that'd be almost 1L of oil to suck up before it got to the compressor =) haha
plus, the only time its going to "suck" oil out would be expansion/compression between hitting hot water with cold diffs...

The worst thing about censorship is ███████.
My rear patrol locker is doing it.
I know another patrol that did it.
And 2 x landcruisers.
The rings in them start leaking and oil returns up the line when you switch the locker off.
Sure there are allot more people out there who have had it happen to them.
Seems as though you need a regular ring seal instead of the x seals that the locker uses from factory. That fixed the problem for my mate.. Yet to do it to my rear yet.

Another rocking horse thread..... Good, reliable, educated opinions are as rare as rocking horse shit....
Oil blowing back up an arb air locker hose is as common as rocking horse handles!
Yes they do have a tendancy for the seal housing o'ring to seep oil through to the airline. In turn, every time you disengage the locker this oil is forced up the airline and eventually makes its way to the solenoid on the compressor...

Mine used to do that. Only annoyed me every now and then. Didnt seem to effect its operation. My compressor was mounted under the drivers seat so used to just dump the oil onto the carpet.Ruffy wrote: Yes they do have a tendancy for the seal housing o'ring to seep oil through to the airline. Free air locker to the first 20 callers!
once again...another educated thread. what internal issues? out of well over 100 lockers i have fitted in my time building custom diffs i think i have had four or five issues. out of those one was a manufacture fault (pinhole in the brazing on the seal housing) which was picked up before the diff went in and a replacement sourced easily. the others were my fault and very quickly rectified, once again usually before the diff went in. and as far as i know none of my customers have oil comming up the air lines. i may have a slight residue due to oil used in the istallation and lubrication of o-ring as they go in, but this will be minimal and will go away after a few engagements, and any cab mounted comp should be vented externaly. read the other thread about a proper install and it might give some people a better idea.

oil
My mates hilux used to drip diff oil out of the solenoids. front and rear
Remember some days your the pigeon and other days your the statue
My front one does it.
But the rear is ok....
i have had the front one out and fully dismantled and rebuilt with all new seals.
It still pumps oil.
Not much oil but just enough to annoy me.
A guy told me that my extended diff breathers may be blocked/restrictive which may be causing it ?????????????????????
Just another mystery....

Free air locker to the first 20 callers!
my rear locker started to leak to the extent the compressor kicked in every 10 seconds or so, but it only ever had a slight residue at the compressor i pulled it out and found dirt under a seal. but that was my own fault for not cleaning it out properly after my line broke a couple of months ago. they are a get item and reliable
The thread title arb air locker should be banned.
As was said above one in 100-1000 does not count to the locker being designed poorly, most of the time it is the installers fault, mine sometimes has a slight oily residue at the solenoid but is far from being a drop/and or trail of oiil.

There could be parents out there who are failing their children by letting them use the internets unsupervised, so we all have to curb our behaviour to protect them, rather than the parents do their job.
