Ghost whisperer - Electrical issue

Post by RANUKI »

Ok so I have joined the Patrol family because everyone told me how much better they are than Rangies (dont start). So the guy that wired mine up must have been an ex-employee from the good ole prince of darkness.

So heres the issue/s - Out truckin on day when all of a sudden the rear wiper and posum pisser just come on by them selves, might I add when i dipped the left hand mirror. So had to pull the fuse and have no wiper or mirror adjustments, no biggy. Put the fuse back in one day and fine for a while then bang, off it goes all by itself, didnt touch anything this time. It has been coming on and off by itself for a while now so I have just pulled the fuse.

Now the otherday out wheeling with the lads and all of a sudden my front wipers and posum pissers come on, does a run for about a minute then stops. This happens about 5 times for the day so I end up pulling the fuse, small issue when it is raining. So it is fine for a week or 2 then on the weekend I had the ignition left on (because I often do that) and the missus comes out 4 hours later to tell me my wipers and pissers are going crazy. Sure enough the battery is flat and they have probably been going for an hour or 2, pull the fuse, roll start the rig and shoot off to my sisters. On the way home it starts to rain so I pull over fit the fuse, now I have rain sensing wipers, goes 3 times, stops, mninute later goes 3 times and so on. Today I only went off once.

So long and short of it, same problem 2 different circuits. Any ideas before I spend a morgatge repayment having an electrician chase one of those problems that is sure not to exist everytime he has the rig?

Need help and wipers fast.

Cheers,
Benno

Edit - Sorry it is a GQ, full electrics and a sh1tty car alarm (that I am having pulled).

gudday

its gotta be in the toggle switch assembly and/or timer for wipers, maybe a burnt contact that shorts when moisture is around, that's not a uncommon cause of faults.

either that or you got a "Taniwha" in your truck Bro!! ha ha

Has it been under water?
If not I would start by trying your combo switch.
