Cracked Block G16B Vitara motor

Post by vit94 »

Hi I've heard there is a common fault caused during manufacturing of the G16B blocks, that has resulted in them cracking around and near the
welsh plugs .

Any truth to this and any suggested remedies please.

there is no fault, and is a very random thing. its more a result of the pouring of the material not the cast itself. i have only come across 2 and both were easy fixes.

get an alloy specialist to tig it up. won't happen again after that. pain in the but getting to it, but cheaper than buying a new motor.
