I have an intercooled 2.5 TD from a 1990 NG Paj. I got a 2.5" free flowing exhaust fitted, and then took it to a diesel specialist who "upgraded the fuel pump" (i'm not exactly sure what he did) and upped the turbo boost from about 8psi to 12psi. My power went from 45kw at the wheels to 60kw and now I have 591nm of torque. It was amazing (the best $1700 I have spend on my car- $420 exhaust, $900 fuel pump upgrade + dyno tune, $400 fuel pump repairs) and what's even better, I did get 50km more per tank of diesel. I am really keen to take my car back to the guy and have him dyno-tune it again and also check/replace my fuel injectors if necessary. I reckon this time if I need new injectors, it will set me back around $700.

I never expected to fit a 2.5" exhaust (i've always had 2.25"), but this guy told me to go 2.5", and no I don't have a turbo dump pipe from the turbo back... :P I hope that this info helps.
1990 NG Paj TDI: 2.5 exhaust, 146l Longranger tank, snorkel, 2" suspension lift, 31" Bighorns.

1985 Holden Drover: 2" OME suspension & shocks, extractors, 2" exhaust, 235/75 MTR's

Have you tried the 3 washers technique? Its basically adding 3 washers .
to the spring. delaying the opening of the valve to increase the turbo boost pressure before the valve opens. I did this with my land cruiser and i can honestly say that power increased and reduce the blacksmoke emission. I learned about the technique from friends who have the pajero 4D56TD engine. Search the net for more topics on this. It will cost you only 6 washers , 3 per side (less than 1$) .
