The jimny box must be internaly different as well as bolt holes to the vit as Ihave it and with 33s at 5psi on rocks it turns not a prob but most of the time at 10 psi without any dramas havnt even fitted a cooler yet.

Joe,

I can't remember the size of my bolts. They were the same as the stockers so I guess M12 and were definately graed 8 or up. I didn't have a drama getting them from a structural and industrial fasteners joint. They had them on the shelf. The countersinking was the painful bit hehe. The 3 flute bit on my drill press was useless.

What is the pros and cons of a Cressida box vs a Jimmy box?

Crissida is a stronger box?
Cheaper to buy?
Requires some drilling and sleeving of the chassis rail to fit.
Use the Crissida Pitman arm?

Jimny is expensive to buy?
Bolts straight up?
Use the Jimny Pitman arm?

Is that correct?

MX32 and MX62 are the model codes for the cressida that the pumps are off.

The reason people go to the trouble of moding the chassis rail to fit the Crissida box is clearer now.
The wreckers I phoned want $400 + for just the power steering box from a Jimny.
Ouch.

not only that but there are no intermediate shaft mods and a vit radiator fits comfortably too.

How "factory" does the Cressida box and Cressida pitman arm look when it is in place with the drilled and sleeved chassis rail?

I am just wondering if it would be the kind of mod that would be frowned upon by our road transport department, or if, with a lick of paint it would pass by as "meant to be there".
