Overkill engineering shackles

Post by scoach »

If anyone is interested, here is a pic of the shackles I had made by Overkill Engineering at Hornsby.
They are 3" longer than standard
They cost $220 IIRC. better than me worring about my bodgy welding.
They didn't come with greasable pins though and I thought they were supposed to.
I'm happy with the result as I get to keep my nice soft leafs.

I ran rhyno shacles on my Rocky which were sold to me as 50mm extended shackles, were actually closer to 70mm but with 3" lifted springs and castor plates + adjustable panhard from superior eng never had any dramas.
So long as your driveshaft length is okay and castor correction + panhard if these shackles are for the front you should be ok

they are for the back as rozas have leavs at the back. the front is goin up with a balljoint spacer. is it worth trying them? cuz i made some more at 50 mils gap as well. can a mod be performed to the uv joint or something? ultimately i will have two surplus shackles regardless and if they are no good for ferozas then il be buggadd if i know what they will be good for.

No rattles here rokbebop.
If you do the ball joint spacers can you post the dimensions. I was going to mock some up from wood so I can get them right without fouling on anything, then get a mate to make them for me.
You could save me the trouble.
How thick are you going?
I was thinking about 25mm top and bottom.

top and bottom? ok im just doing the top so i wont be able to help you with the bottom. i hope 2 get them completed this week. i made some out of wood first too and they are gunna be about 27 mil high cuz the guy making them ground the 40 mill block i got down too far which was very annoying cuz it took me forever to find it. i wanted it 30 mil. anyway i will post a schematic of the spacer and my shackles when its all done. 25 mil is easy because steel is easy to get in that thickness. the next size is 40 and thats very hard to find. i gotta say my shackles look awesome. how much lift did you get with those shackles?

Here are my two sets of shackles. also raising the front suspensiopn that far could lead to exploding cv joints. i am to lift an inch abouts with this stuff and maybe an inch with polyurathane blocks from some polyurathane place nearby. i have also discovered that there are blocks underneath pajeros that could be used as lift blocks they are a bit over an inch and the right dimensions. the idea is that putting heaps of rubbe between the chasis and cabin will soften the ride.

look what i made. i have the x and y coordinates for the holes based upon the centre of the large hole at work so anyone could get some made according to them with access to the right machine.
