RB30 dizzy

Post by bundybluedog »

i dont own a 4x4 but im looking at building a blow thru carby turbo RB30 for my torry. i just built one for my bro inlaws VL and it goes hard but injection and computers are to expensive for me and i think i could get the same power for half the cost with a carby. Anyways my question is does the patrol RB30 craby engine have just a normal electronic dizzy? i heard it was diferant i cant use a vl dizzy as its run thru an ECU. are they hard to get? and can anyone post a pic of a carby manifold as i wanna see if it would be easy to modify for a 4 barrel holley. just thinking of the project at the moment and gathering info.

cheers dan

A complete EFI setup off a VL is cheap as, you can get a whole motor+ loom+ecu for under a $1000 if you look around even cheaper

standard vl turbo efi doesnt give the power i want. a well setup blow thru craby can run 10's with a holden 202 in a torana. 20psi requires bigger injectors, fuel rail, fuel pump and ECU. that would cost over $2500. i also wont be using the standard VL T3 or a standard VL exaust manifold. i also dont need dyno time with a carby just a test a tune at willowbank  . the engine we just built for the VL we had problems with leaning out and and other ECU and injector problems plus i do all work myself it saves alot, and some ECU problems i would have to pay somone to do. cheers anyway.

The dizzy on a rb30 patrol is normal electronic type, the efi dizzy is a crank angle senser that sends signals to the computer, which then powers the spark.
