Knocking/Rubbing in wheel or somewhere!

Post by muffins »

I just got in my NJ pajero and as i drove, i noticed a knocking or rubbing type sound coming from what i assume was the front passenger side wheel area. The knocking increases with speed, however it disappears when I'm braking!

The only thing that is different is that I have been running with the front drivers tyre being a different size to the other tyres. I have not had the car in 4wd since this and I have only done a couple of very small trips. Honestly, i don't believe it be related given the knocking disappears when i'm braking. Just wondering whether anyone else has had a similar problem?

sumtimes cv knocks can dissapear under braking also, or can be amplified when braking, and with running one smaller tyre on the front u have just doubled ur risk of killing a cv, or as above would be the easiest check, and if not id be looking there.

Rubbing Noise

Muffin,

How did u go with that noise? did you fix the problem?

I have a 2001 Triton that makes a similar scraping noise from the front passenger side. I think it has somethin to do with the speedo, coz the speedo pointer goes ape shit up and down when i drive.
