The t-50 gearbox from rear wheel drive corollas will bolt up as will an A40 (03-56) Aisin-Warner 3spd auto from AE71 Corolla.

Heaps of info floating around about gearbox choice for the 4age in rwd format. There is also a W-Series bellhousing adapter for the 4A series engines to allow you to bolt up W sereis toyota boxes. These are for big power applications though.

Check out my build thread there is more info about what is required to fit a 4age and associated gearbox to a sierra.

you would have to fab up an adpater plate to use the 1.3 or 1 litre gearbox. I'm sure that both of these boxes would suffer from the increase in power. I would be looking to put some sort of rwd corolla box behind it. Good luck with it. Its a long road to get right.

a 1.0 litre box would be a terrible idea behind a 4A-Ge.

Just go with the proven options.

Don't underestimate the advantages of an auto behind a fairly powerful motor though.

T50's are getting a bit long in the tooth and have generally had a rough life in rwd sprinters. Corolla boxes are cheap as chips and shift well enough for 4x4ing. Pick of all is the W series boxes that require an adapter kit to be purchased as mentioned in the above post and they come in a few different ratio choices.

w56 gearbox out of a mk2 supra is very strong but will require a bellhousing adaptor.
