NK V6 Questions

Post by ISUZUROVER »

Hi guys,

A guy at work has a '97 lwb 3.5 DOHC xls. I assume that means it is an NK?

The wheel bearings on one front corner need replacing. Does anyone have the PNs? And also somewhere to get them from in Perth that won't charge the earth?

Also, the engine uses a small amount of oil. Maybe a litre every month. Is this normal for these engines??? No leaks and no smoke - maybe a VERY small puff when pulling away after idling at the lights.

'97 DOHC could be NJ or NK. I'd be surprised if it makes a difference for front wheel bearings, but you should get them to compare part numbers for both.

NFI about P/Ns or where to buy. I'd get prices from Mitsubishi, Repco, and CBC.

Oil consumption isn't unusual for Mitsu engines - probably valve stem seals.

Thanks Scott,

He checked the compliance plate and it is an NK.

How easy is it to do the valve stem seals???

Ive managed to change the valve stem seals on a 6g72 without removing the heads, i believe on the 6g74 heads need to be removed.
