Has anyone managed to fit a towbar to a zook with a long ranger fuel tank?
When i fitted mine ages ago you have to remove 2 of the tow bar mounts and its almost impossible to mount a rear recovery point.
I was just wondering what people have done to accomodate this as i really need at least a rear recovery point.
Maybe the only way to do it is make a new rear bar with a 2" reciever in it and mount it securly to the chassis?
Anyone got any ideas??
Danny

Assuming you only want a recovery point (and don't want a tow bar for towing)... one solution is to get a bit of heavy plate and hole saw a hole out of it (for your shackles to go through) and mount it using tow bolts to the two holes that are on the underside of the chassis near the mud flaps on each side of the back of the sierra...
Hope that made sense - the plate would be mounted horizontally (that should help you locate the holes), and will sit basically under the tail lights on the rear bar..
I'll check with Christover to see if he has any pics of one.

My rear bar/tow bar uses those holes that gerg is talking about as attachment points. I used 6 mm angle iron to make the brackets welded to a piece of 2x4 3mm wall box steel.
I added a set of "braces" in the vertical plane a bit later as the bar was starting to twist slightly after yanking out a few very heavy vehicles (like an 80 series) .. to make the reciver I simply got a piece of heavy walled 2 inch inside diameter box (so I could use a standard tow hitch) and cut a lump out of the 2x4 big enough to allow me to sit it in there ... welded it all up along with a piece of 3 inch wide 8 inch long 3 or 4 mm plate under it .. to make holes for a saftey chain to be mounted if I were ever to tow a trailer .. The plate also spreads the load across a bit bigger area of the bar .... .. I guess if I had a pic it would make a bit more sense ( I drank way to much in the weekend .. my brain is broken ) will try to remember to take a pic tonite when I get home ..
