my widetrack ferozas 1.6l engine is at 224000 k's.
am wondering how long roughly they last? if anybody knows.
and whats the best option with replacing the engine, as far as fitting wise and changin all the other bits to suit it.
as im keen for more power haha

You've not done to badly imo...... about 200,000 seems to be fairly normal but it depends a lot on how hard they get driven - much like any other engine.
As for your other question, what actually are you asking........ engine swap, replacement, second hand etc etc - it very unclear.
Give us an idea as to what your actually are thinking about and people may well be able to share there experiences.
Also, this topic has been discussed extensively ( probably by every Feroza owner ) so you could get some usefull feedback from the search function about what's been done or looked at before.

We all wish to have extra power mate. A Commodore V6 "could" be made to fit but it would be a very significant job and I'd doubt if it could be engineered currently.
Besty had one fitted in his along with live axles ( basically Hilux running gear with the Holden engine ) but it was a significant job, engineered when things were a bit easier, and ended up being far too tall for my liking.
And just in case there's some confusion about the Applause engine vs Feroza keep in mind they are the same except for the cam ( and a few minor accessories ) so don't expect much.

Look at a torquey, modern 4 cylinder.

Hell, some people even put turbo mazda rally motors in them
The real key is gearbox choice IMHO. You're not going to do any great shakes with the feroza gearbox or transfer case.
I'd be looking at getting the right gearbox in it ( like an AW-4 series auto) and transfer case you can get gears for (like a hilux or vitara case)
Then deal with the motor.
Also bear in mind, you only can only use as much power/torque as you have traction. Much more power than you have grip for just makes for a dangerous drive in a SWB car with a high centre of gravity.
Just some thoughts.
I would have thought that 100kw/200Nm would actually be plenty if it wasn't peaky.
I'm not a fan of the V6 commodore motor.

P.S. the BIG turbo was a bit peaky on average for my use - the smaller option was more driveable. Pushed hard it flows around 200kW but dyno time shows its got more than enough torque at the required 2700 RPM when not on boost.
Still ATM its sitting on the floor so its a complex paperweight.

last time i checked i thought feroza's (especially wide tracks) have a low center of gravity as they have a fibreglass roof, are 15mm wider track than a hilux and are spua. the problem with fitting a different motor is the height available in the engine bay. Unless you do a body lift many engines will simply not fit under. However if you do a body lift you can fit a hilux box and engine (3rz-fe)... just. however if you are poor you can look at fitting a hilux box (like i am). just need to get a bell housing made. Mine is at the engineers however i have run out of money.....
As a guess i'd pretty much agree that a Feroza would have a lower COG than a lux...... however the wheelbase to track ratio is much closer on a Feroza making it much less stable ( and lots of power makes this a significant issue). Mines frighteningly close to square in the track to wheelbase stakes and can really create white knuckles on some surfaces at what passes for speed in a Feroza.
As per engine height..... its mostly the potential interference of the sump on the front diff, making a new sump that moves the oil pan to the very back or passengers side does wonders. The BPD "SHOULD" actually end up lower in the car than the HDEG and that's after I've pulled my front diff up, but making the sump is a real pita as its alloy and forms part of the face to the bell housing.
Still its not like i have anything else to keep me amused.......
