4.4 Stroker Motor
Hi all hope someone can shed some light on a 4.4Stroker motor I have.
I bought it in January this year it' a 3.5Rangie motor with a 4.4 crank.
Block and heads are in good condition just a hone and new bearing new cam and lifters but the pistons have two skirts broken off and look like they have been machined as well as the conrods. does any one know what pistons and con rods would have been used??? As i have heard before off these you have to turn down the 4.4 crank jornals to fit the 3.5 block and use certain conrods and I think holden pistons and bush the rear spiggot to fit the rangie gearbox. The motor came complete with the scorcher distributor so ok there. the cam has no markings on it ?? so I prosume it would be the standard cam or do I need to sort out a different cam??? The guy I bought it off has moved the QLD from Sydney and off cause i have lost his mobile #. Any info would be great. Cheers

Hi Loanrangie, I did notice there was no markings on the crank ( like 4.4 )
There is a number stamped on it i will get that tonight and post it here if that may help. I measured the stroke when I bought the motor and it was 90mm and figuring the nomal stroke is 71.12mm this added upto 4.4 but only using a rule so a 4.3 would have a stroke of around 87mm I will measure again tonight
The only markings on the rods is AC. The head gasket is a lot thicker than the tin gaskets. Thanks for the info

Hi Garry The engine is a Rangie motor it came complete with the heads and inlet manifold with the twin carbs. There is a Rangie on ebay at the moment with a 4.3 Stroker in it I might try him for info aswell. Cheers

They could very well be standard rover rods and pistons may be standard rover with the crown reduced to compensate for the extra stroke?
Pretty sure this is how Ritters did there strokers
Edit
The pistons used in the above strokers are Omega and the bores are bored out to 94mm

Hi DK funny you should say that about the pistons because I thought they looked a bit to squared off at the top and a bit close to the compression ring!!! If anyone has a 3.5ltre conrod they could measure or check the part # on it would be gr8 Thanks
