suspention set up help
suspention set up help
hey every one just after so advice on suspention set up for my sierra. it has 2inch body lift and 31's at the moment i want to go 33's i drive mostly on rocks and big ruts, and general tracks. i want alot off flex and still b stable. i was looking at supeiour drop shackes, and old man emu 40mm lift medium springs. not to sure on shocks. is there a better spring i should use for more flex and will a 2inch extended shakle flex well? any help would be much appriciated. thanks in advance
read the bible first - theres heaps there...
but:
- drop shackles wont help real world flex, they just look like theyre flexing
- extended shackles will only help if you're using longer leaves
- flatter leaves flex more than lifted ones.
i'd suggest RUF and 2" leaves in the rear to balance it out plus guard chopping to clear if you need. Then put an air locker in the rear with money saved.
the complicated route is SPOA on flat-as leaves - although some people on here are against that.

i have looked and searched can not fined any thing saying what would b the best set up for flex. i have a front and rear lockers. and efi 1.6 just chacing more flex. and 33's. what do u mean about drop shackels not having real world flex? the supeiour add said with there drop shackel and shock kit (about $2000) a zook with standard shocks and 3inch wheels spaces will flex up o a 44 galon drum with no wories. would a ruf and hilux front up rear get close to that flex with shocks(not to sure on what size). i was thinking hilux diffs and 33's would have enough wait to hold the tires down to get tracktion? and advice would be great just want to get the most travel i can but still stable i dont want to but drop shakels in and have to remove them or same wih ruf ect want to get it right first time hopefuly
do a search on drop shackles / missing link suspension... youll see what i mean about "real world" flex... ie: a ramp is different to actually being offroad.
i went SPOA on hilux front leaves (sierra WT diffs still) and running 31s. - link to "the UFO" below will show some pics of mine in action
also, note that hilux diffs and 33's gives equal diff clearance to zuk diffs on 31s... so going lux diffs to fit 33's is a bit of a waste of time...
if its just flex you want, do RUF and 2" leaves in the back and address bump stops. With lockers F&R you wont need more flex than that...
