hey.
soo ive got the gearbox clutch and flywheel off the seal is showing just wondering how it comes out and if i have to take the sump off.
if i take the seal housing bolts off around the top and the 2 sump bolts at the bottom should the housing and seal just come out ive undone all the bolts but cant seem to get the housing and seal out.
would it just be the silicon holding the lot in or is there something else to it??
cheers

You shouldn't need to remove the housing. Just pry the seal out and tap the new one in.
Remember some days your the pigeon and other days your the statue
As already mentioned, just pry out the seal, making sure you dont damage the crank, or the housing where the seal is fitted.
Yes the seal housing can come out, if its leaking, 4 bolts to the block, and the 2 under the sump??.
Make sure when you clean off the sealant , it dosent drop into the sump.
Often the housing can leak where the block, sump, housing meet.
Only remedy to to remove, clean, and apply new sealant so its correctly sealed.
Most often its just the crank.
Apply rubber grease to the seal, and the crank, once cleaned, and refit gently so you dont bend the seal out of flat/ round, by tapping it back in bit by bit, so it goes in evenly.
hope that helps.
