AngryElmo wrote:Hi guys, just a quick question, how may 4wd do u need in the team to compete at this event? do they all need to be in the same class? i was reading the entry form and it says its a team event, so im just trying to work it out. i have an 80 i want to run in the slightly modified section and my bro in law will be running in extreme, might also have a mate who can run in stock so just wondering how we go with it......
That would be me in the little red devil. :D

I will be running 38's, twin locked, 5" lift. so i'm guessing that will put me in outlaw class. Does that mean i MUST have a cage and window nets or can i just opt out of the bonus lines that require them? If i opt out of the bonus lines that that mean i won't end up being competitive?

If we compete as a team with three vehicles in three different categories does that mean we just get score individually against the categories we are competing in and the aggregate score is tallied at the end to give a placing for the team?

Also, i have a semi professional photography/videography team lined up for the day to make a video of our team/the event. How will we go getting them access for decent positions to get good shots of the event. We are willing to produce a video of the event if that is what people want.

MILO
I hope you have modified your front bar Milo so you dont hit your winch or you will be wasting your time. Some of the rocks in the creek runs are much bigger than Ormeau that caused you problem with your winch.
5" coils are your friend :D :D

ahh yess, but i have an awesome new mod. 5" flexi coils on the roof so that when it slinkys over it will continue on the roof coils and go right back onto it's wheels on the other side. I'm gonna make millions marketing this.

besides, you need to learn how to drive before a 3" is any good to you. My new heckle phrase is " drive it like you hate the c**t!!!! :D "

Um. i don't get it? i must be missing something :D

I am looking at filming and making a DVD of this event, and i might be after a couple of people who are interested in either contributing footage or acting as cameramen for me. I would be interested in hearing from Any one who has experience with shooting video. I may or may not have two videographers already but if they pull out i'm after any other volunteers. In return i'm happy to provide a copy of the finished product, pay for tape costs and your name in the credits. It's by no means a professional thing, i'm just interested in making video as well as wheeling.

Any one interested should send me a PM

The tracks have been made and lets just say it took an 8 tone machine to prep the tracks.
I have already named one of the tracks 2 evl because I think his car would fit in one of the ruts.

With those tyres you may not fit.
We made another 15 tracks. Most are climbs in gullies, the stuff 11evl likes to go to sleep on.

Well sadly I am out.

Gearbox has decided that changing gears is not in its foreseeable future and divorced the rest of the drive train to go live in a hippy commune the other side of Nimbin.

Whilst I have my recently sourced Russian mail order bride box here, I sadly do not have time to get her in before D-Day. Will probably still come and navi for one of the other blokes though.
If its not upside down and on fire, I'm not trying hard enough.......

The tracks are.
265m hill climb called track outlaw. Must have a winch as this is at the end of the creek run past the water fall. Yes we have now got a track to go further up the creek. The climb out of the creek is almost vertical massive tree to whinch off if required.
2xAlishas track is 180m hill gully climb with rock jump up and wash outs
2xLachlans climb are easy but are steep pintches and should rut up quickly
Cal's Creek is short but extreme rock boulder climbs
Permission hill is open to modified cars
Dat Hill is 30m of gully climb
Porky's Pit Stop is 20m very tight gully climb to camp site 8
Joey Climb 150m is a hill climb that will require a cage.
Rockin Bobcat flat gully run 30m easy track for standard cars
Spectator lane is for a standard car and will be a spectator point for the new links highway. This is now harder due to the fact standard cars started to drive it. Chicken out areas for some sections.
B1 150m and B2 100m hill climbs are medium and will toughen up over time. Steep hill.
Scotty's hill easy 300m track
Flip hill 62m steep hill climb with 2 rutted side tracks
11EVL look at the named car to see what the flat track will do to the car

Thanks for the offer of a navi guys. Me and angry were going to navi for eachother but this would free us up to really concentrate on what we are doing.

The request for cameramen is still open, as i'd really like to make a DVD of the event. If i get a chance I'll be going around and chatting to the entrants on camera and asking about their vehicles. If anyone doesn't want to participate or be on cam then just let me know, it's no drama's.

With a bit of luck I'd like to see a few cars getting air on cam  If anyone is taking Hi Resolution digital photography on the day, I'd be interested in getting copies to integrate into the video. All pics will be credited in the video. If anyone else is taking a handy cam that uses MiniDV tapes i'd love to grab some of your footage, again all video used will be credited.

should be a good event

I'm starting to get a little worried about the sound of a vertical winch at the end of a 300meter hill  But it's all good, i guess i'll just have to assess it when i get there. Some of these tracks sound damned hard :D

so how many stages does that mean the average car will be running in the day, and what sort of down time/rest in between stages can drivers expect?

or next time i could use a navi that realises the truck has four wheels
that he has to watch, NOT JUST THE FRONT!!!
