have you removed the tierod yet? if not i'd bolt the box back in tight and remove the tie rod first as they can get pretty well stuck. im not sure sorry mate, i think i may have had my radiator out at the time which made it easier. I'd be inclined to think down would be the easiest way as once the tie rods off there isn't anything in the way (from memory)smileysmoke wrote:ah nice sounds like a plan sweet.

I am just worried that if i go the 8" the offset will cause clearance issues on the firewall and other components, not to mention the increased steering weight i suppose...
But I am hoping that with an 8" rim and the 30" tyre my only problem will be covering the exposed tyre...

I'd look at the connector on the temp sender. These are notoriously fragile. It might be making poor/intermittent contact.

I'd say so, if for no other reason than normally if the VSS is missing the ECU will throw a check engine light after the engine has been on load for some time.
Check engine light lit = no engineer pass, and is dumb anyway because it will mask "real" faults.
I've not done a GTi conversion myself, but that's been the case with the other suzuki EFI conversions I've been involved with. I have no reason to assume the GTi is different.

I don't believe there's any reason for vicroads to inspect the vehicle so long as you supply the cert and a RWC if that was required by the engineer.
If you are pinged with the 34's on how much hassle you are in for will depend on the discretion of the Police officer involved.
Best case: nothing at all. You might get the "don't let me see the car again with those tyres on it"
worst case, (assuming you're tyres aren't speed rated, which I have a feeling they aren't ) you get a red canary and can't drive the car ANYWHERE - you are walking.
Generally, if you're polite, sober and the car is otherwise legal looking, you might get a "they're a bit big mate" talking to, no canary on the windscreen, and a "notice to fix" for "condition of tyres"
If the police officer is a bit more suspicious of your car, when you get the "notice to fix" the officer will tick the "RWC" box on the bottom of the form. If you are engineered, that's no problem - put the legal tyres back on and get a RWC. A hassle, but no biggie.
*Grimbo voice on* of course, you aren't technically insured in any way ( including TAC) if your tyres aren't speed rated in accrodance with the ADR, hence the reason you are technically liable for a red canary. *Grimbo voice off*

That was very helpful Steve. No the tyres ar not speed rated, however I will get a cheap set of 31" tyres for the road soon.
The engineers didn't ask to see my RWC. I was under the same impression that if I did get pinged I would just put my standards back on and bobs you uncle. I had this family friend tell me that if i do get caught I would end up in court, 12 prision ect ect. He does however speak sh*t mainly. The car is only driven on weekends out. If it came to a point I was frequently driving it I would put small tyres on.
Also will running 205's with a spring over and 5.12 diffs do any damage, asside from reving hard.

Basically, there's no structure in Vic for loss of license/ points/fines as part of the defect process AFAIK. I understand this is different in other states.
Obiouvsly, if your deliberately unsafe car was driven in a culpable way and killed someone, then the way you modified your car might not help your case in court.
The process is warning/notice to fix/canary/red canary. That's not punitive, (i.e it's not about punishing the driver, only fixing the problem vehicle or removing it from the road.)
there's no problem with 205'swith your setup, however, your speedo will be out about 40%, which in itself is a worthy of a canary. If you are going to drive it any time/distance with little tyres on it, I'd have spare 3.7 diff in the shed.

If you have a prang with the 34's on and your car was certed on stock tyres it doesn't matter whether it was certed or not, (if it becomes an issue) you're not insured or legal with the big tyres on.
However, if you are pinged with non certed tyres on, you only have to match the conditions of the cert when you present for a RWC (if required) or vicroads.

my car was inspected at vic roads to ensure that the new engine number and original chassis number written on the cert forms were correct. you will then be presented with a new registration sticker with the updated numbers on it.lockdup wrote:...when I present the report to Vicroads will they ask to inspect the vehicle?
