Vitara diff plug

Gday
My son has purchase a 1990 Vitara swb.... we changed all the oils today
But we could not get the rear filler plug out using a socket handle......
i dont wont to chew it out completely by forcing it to much?
The socket was a bit loose....can you get a proper socket? or can someone advise how to remove this.....

get a can of "freeze ya nuts off" and a small hammer and it will come off. If that doesn't work weld a nut onto it then replace it.

those plugs often have a plastic washer. Heat it up with a little pen torch and they come right off. Also a peice of 10mm keyway steel is a perfect fit to the plug. A short section of that slotted into a 13mm socket makes a good diff plug remover.

rear steel- mine mas a wheel nut welded to it
front are alloy, smashed a hole in my casing trying to get it off once,

I welded a bolt to mine to get them out...although the heat from the welder made it loose anyway haha. Then i bought new plugs, which I did a better weld job to for future removal.

Looks like im going to do the same thing exc...
tried everything else except burning the plastic washer off...

will order new plugs first....
