So where did the panel damage happen? or did I miss that part?
Nah mate, this is the "fender bending" that is required to get the 'pedes under the front. They just catch the front guard near the firewall by about 10 mm or so on part lock. Just wanted to get The panel work done by someone that knows WTF they are doing (ie not me!). I could have done it myself but I'm not to "artistic" with the angle grinder and BFH.

SHOW US THE KIA!!!
March meeting, Suzuki 4WD Club of Vic.........or see me around Little Desert over the Labour Day (W/E 5-8/3). As for pictures, I was given a SONY camera for Xmas that was FUBAR out of the box, they still have it (9 WEEKS NOW):bad-words:, note that it is a bit difficult to take photos of something that hasn't happened yet anyway... ("Panel work booked in for March 1st" ).
There WILL be photos when it is a little more complete....and hopefully something extra. (there is a reason for keeping it looking reasonable)

The only "pictures" you could take ATM are K&N filter and a Powerchip and a little bit of hacking of the plastic work, apart from what you have already seen with the spring lift. The next is the panelwork (+ fitting of the tyres) as described, then a small bodylift and F/R barwork after that.
Yes, use SEARCH for the appropriate links to photos of the spring lift......... I'm sure I have posted them...
BTW I already have the tyres/rims (Simex Centipede MT 's, similar looking to Wrangler MTR) at home sitting in my bedroom. Really sh*tting me off not having them on the rig.

Area54 wrote:Oh, you mean the centipede radials, not the bias.
Yeah, bit too much of an ask to get the bias plies engineered. The vehicle chassis never came with and was never designed for bias belted tyres, even in its miltary configuration :-( The Luxes, LC's, Patrols, etc all came with bias belted at some point in some market, and the engineers can go a bit easy for that reason.

Gee the tyre says "Simex Centipede" on the sidewall, so when is a "Simex Centipede" not a "Simex Centipede"?
......and here's a picture of an unlifted Kia being pushed uphill by a Zook with a snatchstrap

yes. the Kia backed down the hill after bypassing the hard track. The Suzuki after driving the hard stuff broke a CV due to 36" tyres, twin diff locks and twin t/cases. The Kia then pulled the Suzuki out of the rut. So.

Ok that sounds better. Thought the track behind the kia was a bit too rugged and the car looks very clean. Once again the FULL story is the one we needed.

It's OK with me Gary when you said 31" Centipedes I knew what you meant I run the same tyre and they work well ,and don't make alot of noise on the road.
get the facts before the facts get you.

Yes. Have been talking to ARB, who didn't realise that the chassis/running gear was also used in the South Korean version of the Jeep. All of a sudden they are a little more interested (Military Contract???). As far as required numbers for a production I showed them a couple of Korean websites, one with a pics of about 6 x 25 or so members of a Korean Sportage group lined up in a parking lot, and with some of the mods that they have done ( wild lifts, 35" tyres, SAS, etc.)
We wait and see.
What we know:
- The Suzuki locker is .01" and 2 splines off a fit of the axles into the front diff. Ring gear is still a guess, see pic. A bit of adjustment on their CNC lathe may be all that is necessary.
- The demonstration diff they had at the 4WD show is the same as the rear, BUT they can't remember who made the axle and third member Guessing it was a Mazda of some description, and aren't sure about whether they still make a locker for it (VERY old model, may not have the CNC figures for it). The Eaton Posi that comes standard isn't too shabby though...
Another avenue may be McNamara Diffs, haven't sussed them out yet.
