What does replacing airbags involve?

Post by carrot »

Hi! I'm considering buying a crashed car with airbags deployed. I haven't worked with them before, so does anyone know around about how much it would cost to buy the units (2x front), and is installation difficult? Thanks!

things may have changed, but there was a good market for stolen airbags years ago (several went around work in Wetherall Park when I was there) and they were 2000-3500ea to replace

but would depend on what sort of car really.

In theory installation is easy, it's the undeployed airbags that cost a fricking fortune.
This is not legal advice.

don't forget that if airbags are out it's prob stat write off and will require re-inspection.... Should be able to get bags out of another wrecked vehicle

You will also need the module, dash padding (if its duel airbags and has blown through the dash) clock spring, pre-tentioned seatbelts/stalks and crash sensors (if it has them, depends on what type of car it is)
Dual ARB airlocked, 4.6 geared, 7" lifted, TD42 weapon.
