track bar/panhard question on lifted XJ

Post by xjstevie »

hi all
would like to know if there is anybody with info on doing a panhard/track bar on a rhd xj. i am about to do a RC 6.5" lift and the bar i received with the kit will not work on the right hand drive susp.
can i cut the upper joint off, drill and tap it to take a heim joint, modify the bracket to accept the heim or what (to make bar adjustable)?

You'll need a rhd track bar for it to work. LHD don't bend round the diff, rhd need to.

i know that but would like to know what guys riding rhd's have done to overcome this as here in South Africa nothing is available and stuff has to be manufactured at the engineering or at home and just thought that there might be a good recipe to do it.
thx so far

The best way around it is cut your old one in half and put left and right treads on it and a spacer ,make it about 4" long ,this will make it adjustable for you or do the heim joint but lot more work

thanks for info, will consider it
you don't perhaps have any pix of any RHD XJ's suspension lifts there in Aus. here we don't have that many and lifting them has actually just taken off so we are still a little in the dark here. I have looked and have only found one or two.
thx

the stock one wont droop far enough. you can get this stuff from "Wooders Garage". I had a RHD version of the Rubicon Express trac bar bracket made and used a tracbar from wooders.
