G16A into a Sierra - process?
this is NOT covered i have read the bible and cant seem to find the info..
i have a G16A carby i might be picking up for $300 - the whole vitara!!! so will have the engine, wiring loom, power steering (i think if it has it).
so far i understand i will need
- refabricated engine mounts
- conversion kit from "BenT"
- 2" bodylift
anything else? as for the wiring is it juz plug and go or will i need to do some modifying of the wiring to suit?
i know i need a 2" bodylift thats no problem, all im concerned about is the wiring...im pretty good with this kinda stuff i just need info on how to do it as i dont have the vitara yet but will be VERY soon..

just beat a Marlin in a swimming race
its carby so no wiring loom required... use the 1.3 stuff.
you also dont need a body lift - using the suzistore g16a kit mine fitted just fine - although running a weber i had to cut the cross bracing in the bonnet.
youll need the vit's extractors as well (and the appropriate exhaust work).
edit: oh yeh - you should be able to use the vit alternator too =)

You can use the 1300 exhaust if you already have extractors , and I undone the bonnet bolts lifted the bonnet then redid the bolts up to get as much height possible.
My airbox adapter didnt fit the vit carb and the vit airbox was one that sits ontop of the engine so it wouldnt fit under the bonnet.
I used and egg ring between the vit carby and the sierra airbox adapter...hey it worked.

carbies have "jets" (nozzles that squirt out the fuel) - bigger jet = more fuel... i kept the 1.3 air box and carby on top of the 1.6 to keep it simple and fitting without a BL... however i eventually wanted more out of it so chucked a weber on... then wanted more still and now EFI =) haha

as i'm about to do the same thing but i'm gonna run mine on LPG gas so it handles the slopes

so on a G16A your able to swap the carby for a EFI unit? is this a difficult or costly mod? how would you do this? is it bolt on or a bit of muckin around?
i think im benifiting if i get hold of this g16a and swap it into my sierra, cos its $300 for the whole car. plus $200 for the kit ect i think its a good option.. and if im able to swap the carby for a efi unit later thats even better...
cos how much are g16b's...$500 - $1300??? either way i think $300 for a g16a vitara is a bargain

Depends on what type of efi you want to go.
Most g16a engines already had 4 valve pistons from factory, only the early ones didn't. You can go throttle body injection where you keep your head and manifolf, but multipoint is a head change, hope you have the right pistons, new intake and exhaust manifold on top of the computer and pump, costs a bucket load more but heaps better than throttle body injection.

injection is better than gas, me and my mate with his sierra with 1.6efi con.have no probs on verticle inclines and declines idles great and doesnt stall...
gas on the otherhand is not as reliable, burns valves out, cant refill if u run out of fuel, and running dual fuel can overcome the refueling problem but i have never seen a car run great when on dual fuel... they have no toque
