I'm not in Vic but if its in NSW its easy.

There is even a way of doing LEGALLY with out an engineers certificate.

But its no use to you sorry.

in qld, i've seen a wagon chassie used by re-stamping chassie nu's from ute chassie then the tray mounts welded onto wagon chassie, with all unused wagon mounts cut off neatly, and just not telling anyone, not very legal but if you know that nothing is stolen, then whats the harm

i have spoken with one in hallam and seems very easy to deal with
mate of mine used him for a truck chassis repair and he was very good
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting

I've done it in NSW and I can't see a need for an engineers just cause your in VIc.
In NSW is known simply as a 'change of details'.
Changing the body number.
Changing the seating number.
Changing the GVM. Need a weigh bridge ticket for this.
Short GQ, Petrol, Turbo.

take compliance plate from wagon cab, rivot to ute cab and call it a chop!! I did this the hard way in QLD i haad to go to the copps to issue me with a new VIN, to stamp into the chassie. Then because the 82 ute cab was older than the 84 chassie it had to be complianced. There are only 2 engineers that could do this in QLD. 1 was an old dude fulla piss and importance. Engineer 2 was in Toowoomba, great bloke even got him to had a look at my shute on a sat arvo. (mind you this was a 800klm round trip towing with a 2.5L BT-50) Long story short the engineer said when i was leaving, "why didnt to just take the plate off the wagon, put it on the ute cab and call it a chopp!!!!

Just me pain Good luck

I got one, just had to get engineers certificate $750.
I was at vic roads for 3 hours because they said "re births" are not legal.
Just class it as a panel change and all numbers stayed same.
local 4x4 wreckers has re regoed heaps of re builds.
