Hilux Gear stick issues after body lift

Post by brendolux »

Hi, i have a 2000 Dual cab hilux 4x4 which i have just put a 2" body lift into however the gear stick cannot select 5th or reverse and the transfer stick doesnt move at all.

i have now taken the gearstick shrouds completely out and now driving round where i can see straight thru to my gearbox and transfer.

my transfer hits on the actual body of my ute. im wondering what other people have done. it looks like if i mod the stick to sit with less of a dog leg it will hit the gear stick when transfer is in L4 and gearstick is in 2nd gear..

what have other people done to over come these problems? cheers.

bend the sticks or a good pair of tin snips will do the trick, i encountered this with my 80 when i done a 2" body, i opted for the tin snips. not sure how u would go bout bending it.

heat with oxy and bend to suit.
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc
