can the crown wheel and pinion be swapped from the front diff to the rear diff or are they cut on different angles

No,
but you can build a rear diff with front gears and a front carrier and the rear LSD center or locker.

gears are together, eg: if u strip teeth on the crownwheel, you cant replace the crownwheel....both gears must be replaced

isnt that what he is asking?
i thought they were completely different myself as when you look at it the yoke is offset differently in the carrier, the bolts look the same for the carrier though so i will be interested to find out ??
