A cheap rattle gun will undo almost all bolts, and they use bugger all CFM so a cheap compressor will be fine too!

Electric are good but way more expensive.

Are they not the black things on the bottom left? Or did this not come up when you clicked that link?

Ive had that kit for years now. Has never let me down. worth the dollars for it.

yep thats the one I have. Been abused for years. I used to change wheel/tyres once a fortnight. And it has only ever stuggled once or twice. One of those was when trying to remove a mates wheel. But he is the type of person that would let it hammer the nuts on for 30secs.
Mine it has never had an issue. I have done most stuff around the car with it.

i got that same kit and buggered if i can get it to rattle off wheel nuts, need to crack them with a wheel brace first

Make sure it has a good diamerter airline feeding it. As well as the compressor at full pressure. They use heaps of air. But my supercrap compressor does wheel nuts no problems.

With the twin hammer one on sale for only $70 you'd be mad buying the above kit for the rattle gun.

260bucks. but you need batterys and charger. but if your like me and already got all the dewalt gear then thats a bargin. im thinking of buying it.

ive got 2 impact wrenches. got a smaller 1/2 drive which will undo almost anything. but for the tough bolts that dont want to come undone i use my snapon wrech i scored on ebay. my compressor is too small to run the snapon full time but will run my little wrench easy

Yer i have had that tool set for a couple of years now, it`s never let me down, the rattle gun is a bit on the under powered side but it does the job, the rest i can`t falt.

i have had the same kit for 5 odd years now and it works fine , the only thing the rattle gun couldnt undo was a front wheel drive driveshaft nut and a crownwheel nut ( even with the boss compressor at 200 psi ) it does wheel nuts easily enough but i still do the last bit by hand

and until last thursday i had a superworks compressor then the pressure switch decided it had enough , so i figured its time to get one a bit better and ( lol ) super junk had there belt drive compressors for 350 , twin piston etc.. and so far it seems to work fine , keeps up with spray painting , we will se how long it lasts

finally got around to buying a compressor - decided to go with an old twin pump set up than a new super cheap one which will only last a few years.

it isnt pretty but should do the job.

I also went into super cheap for the sale today a picked up an impact wrench.

not sure if i did the right thing or not. the 600nm one discussed earlier in this thread was $79, but i didnt buy that.

They had old stock of a 3/4 inch drive - heavy sucker (4.5kg) which looks built to last and puts out over 1000nm or torque.

I figure I can get a 3/4 - 1/2 inch adaptor for it.

has anyone had any experience with this wrench? or do people think its too big for home use?

any way it was $39 so was hard to pass up.

Very slightly off thread, however i'll ask anyway; realisticlly how big does your air tank need to be to successfully run a rattle gun?

I've got a seven litre tank in the cruiser which is filled by an older style ARB compressor. The compressor is slow to fill the tank so i'm thinking i'll swap it for my Bushranger max air II which is currently redundant.

Would this be enough to succesfully run a rattle gun when wheeling or should I be looking at replacing the air tank with a bigger one aswell?

114Lpm is what the smallest - read doesnt like wheel nuts version at super crap uses. at a max of about 90 psi?
145 ish LPM for the 600NM gun.

I would think it would fire up the rattle gun but lose pressure after a nut maybe 2 depending on how hard to get them off. then wait for the tank to re fill.

I used to have a 25 L tank under the lux and had wondered if that would be big enough, but in the end decided that it would be too much of a PIA waiting for pressure to rebuild.

maybe if you were running something like an endless air set up.

by the looks of the max air II it runs 29LPM at 90 psi, so rattle 15 sec wait 1 min. maybe not too bad. but probably still quicker by hand and less stuffing around with air lines etc.

I've already got the air lines set up for tyre inflation so that is no big deal. I guess it's whether or not the max air will fit under the passenger seat to replace the slow as ARB compressor to fill the air tank.

with my 50L tank at 120psi, its down to 80 psi in no time using a rattle gun - say 6 nuts give or take.

so i dont think the 7L will work, but i guess give it a go and see.

u would definately need a larger tank than 7 litres to use one properly, and yeh 3/4 is too big for home use, there is no bolts on a car that a good 1/2 gun cant undo. But if u got it for $39 and u can fit it in where u need to use it why not
