Engine swap in 80 series

Hey guys, I know this hsa probly been coverd before but I cant find any thing. I got a 92 80 series with a 1HDT engine in it and was wonderin how much trouble it would be to swap a 4.5 ltr petrol into it.
Ant help would be a big help. Also dose any one know roughly what thes engines are goin for and how much to do a rebuild.

why do u want to from the 1hdt to the 4.5 petrol
for the cost and effort it would be cheaper to buy one with a petrol in it already

Most people are after the 80's with the 1hdt as they are the best motor they came out with. You'd probably end up with extra cash if you sold yours and bought a late model one with a 4.5 in it.

If urs was in nsw an in good nick i'll swap u my 4.5, are u mad, hope ur interested cause the motor has kicked the bucket. If not ur mad.

i drive a 1hdt 80 series for work each day with intercooler and 15 psi nomuffler 3" zorst yada yada yada etc and much prefer jumping in my 1fz-fe after work and driving it

I can understand the high torque @ low revs and good fuel eco. But think WAYYY too many people make a big fuss over diesels. Thats why people pay a fortune for them. Petrol is nicer to drive and gas makes it cheaper than diesel. Goes the same in the bush

is it really cheaper on lpg? i did some sums and with prices how they are where i live i dont agree.
they go the same in the bush, just not as far due to lack of range. and obviously for water crossings etc diesel is alot better option.
but yes people do pay alot more for diesels. possibly due to the fact they generally last alot longer then petrol motors. but then cost more when they do die.

There really isnt much between the 2. Apart from sealing the distributor. They go the same in the water aswell. Although diesel running much higher compression isnt always a good thing. The petrol took a gulp and still ran but with a slight miss, the diesel ceased completely.

The 4.5 does just as many k's. They are pretty tuff. Diesel if you tow or carry alot of weight is ofcourse better in the long run.

My mate has the factory turbo diesel with exhaust (manual, with free wheeling hub). And I have the 4.5 with extractors and exhaust (auto). Both running 33 muds. He gets 610k's per 90 litres Diesel ($112.50 a tank), and I get 390k's per 90 litres lpg ($49.50 a tank). I would get way better with manual and free wheeling hubs.

The 4.5 is a thirty biarch.. But on gas its alright hey. Difference is 220k's, = 50.7litres of gas ($27.90) = $77.40 to match diesels $112.50

But your right about the range. Its starting to anoy me. Cheap as but have to fill up all the time. I have 90 litres of fuel on board, but dont want to use it as its expensive :). Im looking for a place to put a second tank.
