To swap or not to swap

Post by mrRocky »

G'day guys, I have 2 zuks on the go at the moment, 1 long term with a 4age and wolf 3d ecu, the other a 1 ltr stockman.
The one with the 4age seems to be going the way of a full buggy and ive always wanted a v8 in one (dont bag me out) so im thinking of chucking the engine and 5 spd in the stockman to give it some more driveability. If i didnt already have the package setup in a zook i wouldnt consider it, but i reckon i could swap it over in a couple of w/ends and it wont cost me anything.

So should i put it in or spend 3-4 grand getting the gear for a suzi 1.6 that makes less power ? Keep in mind i would be going from 30kw to 100kw so you can see the appeal.

What do you use the stockman for? If its just general wheeling id either fit a 1.6 vit or keep the 1L.

The 4AGE is way to peaky for a sierra in the bush. If you want to race it though, the GE would be a great choice.

The car is used for 4wding and occasionally for work, but i'am finding the 4spd and 1ltr a major annoyance and it limits me when doing the longer trips and with 31's and reduction gears if theres a strong headwind i cant get over 70 on the speedo. Having to ring the 4age doesnt worry me too much thats how i like it.

I'd say that you would be better off with the vit 1.6l, but at the end of the day, if you have the 4AGE setup ready to go, then it makes more sense to use that. Specially if you are considering droping in a bigger motor into the buggy (go lexus V8  )
