coil sprung v8 cab chassis

With a view to run a light weight car in winch comps in production class,
was there a coil sprung v8 land rover bodied vehicle released in oz.
out of my mind, back soon.

Sorry I really mean't to put in my post "cab chassis" as per the heading.
Currently running a Rangie, the benefits would be no rear panels to worry about, less weight the rear tailgate frame, upper and lower tailgate and side glass on a rangie would be around 150kg.

Pretty sure the Cab chassis in the 1980's were diesel only (4BD Isuzu), and were assembled in Brisbane with a longer wheelbase than 110", although I can't recall the exact wheelbase. They're cool, but hardy a light weight comp type option.

they were 120 inch wheel base...

why not buy an ealry 200tdi ute and put a rover v8 in it.... should have no problems getting it engineered as there are no differences in chassis, axles brakes etc and they had v8s available in the uk and usa...

The county V8 was sold from 1983-1990 in 3dr hardtop and 5dr wagon form. They are worth bugger all, and a piece of cake to convert into a ute cab.

They would make a great comp vehicle and I have4 often considered building one. Chassis is 30-50% stronger than a rangie/disco. You can bolt any rover v8 in in place of the asthmatic carbed 3.5

I am currently running a rangie, fairly stock apart from the 4.6, which I once entered as production as it is a rover v8. The response was that the engine that the vehicle left the factory with, is the engine that you shall use. In the case of the Nissans that had a petrol or diesel option you must run as it left the factory.
So this puts me in challenge class. I was considering putting a 3.5 back in, but it is a bit sluggish. Reduce the weight i.e. 110 cab chassis and should be competitive and have a strong rear diff.

How much are you allowed to mod the engine? Turbo?

A P76 motor with rover heads looks almost identical to a 3.5...

You could also just fit a salisbury to the RR and do a ute chop...

Engine unmodified apart from engine management system
Body unmodified apart from guard chop to accomidate larger tyres
Trans from manufacturer for that series of vehicle
Diffs -just lockers
Suspension-factory mounts, 1 shock per corner.

OK, sounds like a V8 county with LT95 would fit the bill nicely. Chuck in a late model EFI 3.5... Or put a 3.9L Efi system on the carbed 3.5...

If I can find a v8 cab chassis the plan is, reuse front maxi, zf and +30% lt230,injection system on a 3.5, some of the roll cage, sell rear maxi for sals locker, have fun.
Would anyone have the tare weight of a 110 cab chassis, any engine and I can calculate around it ?.

yeah but pretty sure cab chassis didn't come with a v8, only isuzu.

Sounds like this is what you are after. Is the winch PTO ? Its pretty big, what ever it is.
